Karl Overman: Birds and More

This attractive endemic of the Tumbesian region of souithwest Ecuador and northwest Peru was a common bird in te Jocotoco Reserve of Jorupe close to the Peru border.  That reserve has impressive deciduous forest and this species is a bird of the undergrowth which of course was mostly lacking during the dry season when I visited the locale. This bird was photographed coming in for a drink in the bird feeding area outside the dining hall.
