Karl Overman: Birds and More

I loved the location for the 2001 stray to Michigan,  the parking lot of the local  Chamber of Commerce in Gladwin.

Copper Harbor is a remote location at the end of the road on Michigan’s Keweenaw Peninsula but it has a well earned history of turning up rare  birds.  In November of 2020 Michigan’s first Cassin’s Finch showed up at a feeder in that tiny town.  The chase was on of course and with the Patagonia picnic effect in full force, a Sage Thrasher was found by birders chasing the Cassin’s Finch.

Sage Thrasher  (Oreoscoptes montanus)
