Karl Overman: Birds and more

While birding south of Detroit on July 23, 2016, I got a call from Jeff Beucking that he was viewing a Baird’s Sandpiper at the Bird Road sewage lagoons in Genesee County.  As I care about my Genesee County list,  I headed north to see the bird.  It  was an adult, a plumage I normally do not see in the Midwest where juveniles in late summer and fall are the norm.
