Karl Overman: Birds and More

A van load of us where out in wide open plowed fields in Willacy County looking for Mountain Plover when this Black-tailed Jack Rabbit shot out ahead of us on the dirt road we were on.  Cathy Carroll then noticed that it had left behind one of its young (photo below) which would not move no matter how close we got to it.  Staying still was a very good strategy given all the hawks in the area including Red-tailed Hawk and White-tailed Hawk.
